Getting Started Step-by-Step

Step 1

Collect the things needed to setup your HSSVSS network

This requires only two things:

A Digital Camera (or web camera) and this Software

You may also wish to include the following items to extend your HSSVSS network

USB Hub, this will allow for multiple cameras

USB Active Repeater Cable, this is special USB cable which extends the distance between your computer and the digital camera.

Step 2 Download HSSVSS

There are 2 downloads: (you only need to download one)

(RECOMMENDED)

-- HSSVSS.ZIP download this file if you know how to use a ZIP file and want to download the system quickly.

OR

-- HSSVSS.EXE download this file if you want to install the system manually. Simply place HSSVSS.EXE into a NEW folder on your computer and double click on it to run the system.

If you place HSSVSS.EXE on the Desktop it will switch to install mode. It will install the system in a traditional manner placing an ICON on the desktop. This setup procedure is extremely fast do not think that it has failed because it didn't take a long time.

SETUP.EXE
To use the Setup file you must download it and save it onto your harddrive and then Double click it to start HSSVSS. It is recommeneded that you download the SETUP file onto your Desktop. The setup file will not always work if you open it directly from the website.

Win98/ME
If you are using Win98 or ME then click the link to the Win98/ME version on the left to download the Win98/ME zip file. You can run the XP version on older operating systems. If it fails to work on Win98/ME then you will need to upload the latest version of DirectX.

Notes to read Before Contacting Support

Please make sure you have download the software from this site and that you have the latest version, which is 7.07. Only contact support for that version. All other versions are no longer supported are out of date and should not be used.

PC Skills

The software isn't written for beginners but it also isn't difficult to learn to use, its actually pretty easy. But you should know how to delete folders and understand things like the file and directory structure of your hard drive and the size of your hard drive. You will also need to know how to load the USB drivers for your camera

PC Cards

Although HSSVSS does work with a wide variety of capture cards and devices it was never designed to do this. The software is designed for USB cameras so although you can run it on non USB cameras with capture cards, this is completely unsupported by this website and you will be on your own.

UnInstall

To Un-install the software you can start the setup.exe and click un-install.

Or

If you have an older version simply delete the HSSVSS folder in c:\ and then remove the icon from the desktop. HSSVSS doesn't use the system registry (it has its own registry) so a normal windows un-install isn't needed

Why Doesn't HSSVSS use Windows installer or Install Shield

Install shield or windows installer's require a license fee for its use. Since HSSVSS is free it doesn't use commercial installers
